Notice to 577 private hospitals who charged extra money: Minister Sudhakar
Health and Medical Education Minister Dr. K. Sudhakar has issued notices to 577 hospitals. Similarly, 1,58,22,359 to the families of 403 patients. He has warned the private hospitals to return the money.
Talking about this, Minister Dr. K. Sudhakar said that besides receiving money from the government under the Ayushman Bharat-Arogya Karnataka scheme, notices have also been issued to hospitals that have collected fees from Covid patients. So far Rs 1.58 crore has been returned to the families of the patients and strict action has been taken. This is a clear warning given by the government to private hospitals.
Under Ayushman Bharat - Arogya Karnataka Yojana, earlier steps were taken to treat Covid patients in private hospitals on referral basis. The government is providing this benefit with the good intention of helping the families of covid patients. The treatment cost of patients is borne by Suvarna Arogya Suraksha Trust. But some private hospitals, besides collecting fees from patients, also get money from the trust.
When there were complaints about this, the department immediately took action and instructed to conduct a review and issue a notice. Accordingly, notices have been issued to 577 private hospitals so far. A total of Rs 18.87 crore. It is known that private hospitals have received additional money. Out of this, 1.58 crores have already been paid. The money has been returned to the patient's family. In some cases, the complaints have been transferred to the district level Kundu Deficiency Committee for further scrutiny.
The treatment cost of covid patients is borne by the government itself. In the first wave, Rs 391.26 crore from March 2020 to March 2021, in the second wave, Rs 376.76 crore from April to December 2021. And during the third wave, from January to March 2022, Rs 11.80 crore. has been paid.
